The Brecon Beacons National Park is a great place to participate in any number of outdoor pursuits, or just simply chill!

Dramatic and beautiful open spaces, rich in wildlife, attract walkers and cyclists to the Beacons and Black Mountains.

The Hotel lies directly on National Cycle Route 8, also known as Lon Las Cymru. This amazing bicycle route runs from Holyhead in North Wales to the capital Cardiff in the south. Talgarth and the surrounding national park also offers some of the best Mountain Biking routes in Wales, including the very challenging Grwyne Fawr Black Route. Also situated nearby is the superb BikePark Wales, which has something to offer mountain bikers of all abilities! Mountain biking route maps   simply click on the link

Talgarth has been awarded Walkers Are Welcome status, making it part of a network of towns that are greatly suited to the needs of walkers. The town also hosts a Walking Festival, held annually on May Bank Holiday weekend. Walking maps are available from the official walking website for Wales.

The hotel is situated close to the river Wye (3 miles) and it's wealth of activities. kayaking, Canoeing. Gorge walking, you want to get wet- this is the perfect place to be! Llangorse Lake is the largest natural lake in south wales and offers walks, history and wildlife.

Horse riding is a popular past time in the area with a number of stables in the area you don't have to bring 'dobbin' with you.

The Brecon Beacons have been awarded dark sky status. With open spaces and more sheep than people the night light contamination is minimal, so star gazing is at it's best!

Daytime sky's are just as interesting with Talgarth having it's own Gliding Club. With the gliders competing for the sky's with Red kites it's always worth sitting back and just looking up.

There is a wealth of wild life in the area and a trip to the Witches Pool is well worth the effort (can be rather wet at times ) or if you would rather create your own 'wilderness' and award winning Garden Centre is a short drive away

Talgarth Mill is well worth a visit (if it's good enough for HRM Prince Charles-well! ) Renovated to it's former working glory, you can have a guided tour and see our ancestors ground floor for bread.

You may fancy doing a course in painting  or glass blowing all

With 3 BIG national festivals also on our doorstep . Brecon Jazz or The royal Welsh show  there is always lots to do.
